Super Bowl Down, March Madness Ahead

With one of our major betting events on the calendar in the books after a successful Super Bowl, it's time to turn our attention to the next biggest event: March Madness.

Now, in years past we've tried all sorts of March Madness coverage. We've bet on every single game, we've joined the office pools that everyone loves so much and we've even bet on secondary tournaments like the NIT and CBI and whatever other acronyms make up lesser postseason NCAA Basketball events.

This year, we're trying something different. We will focus all of our attention on ... the women's bracket.

Okay, okay. We kid. But we will have extensive coverage of the Men's Tournament yet again, so be sure to join us throughout March Madness as it awkwardly drags into April.

If you don't like what we have to offer, be sure to check out Doc's Sports for all the March Madness Picks and NCAA Tournament Projections you can handle.

We look forward to yet another huge sporting event, so hop aboard and enjoy the ride here at Stock Lemon!

Ismael Dias, homanagem a mãe e madrinha, 183

"Boa noite estou enviando minha tattoo, a história é a seguinte:
Chamo-me Ismael tenho 26 anos e fiz esta tattoo neste ano.

Me vejo nela, me identifico com ela (meiga e sensual). Essa foi a primeira de algumas que ainda vêm por aí. Beiijoooo genteeee."

Mou, Bob Esponja e Diamante, 181

How to Review Your Homeowners Insurance Renewal Statement

For most of us, our home is our single largest and most important investment. Many of us have poured thousands of dollars and countless hours into maintaining, improving and (hopefully) paying off our homes. Many people own their homes free of any mortgage. These assets are pure equity. Certainly its worthwhile to invest 15 minutes a year to be sure it's properly insured.

Thankfully, the insurance company offers you a perfect reminder and opportunity in sending out your annual renewal statement. Even if your insurance is paid by your mortgage company as part of your impound account, the insurance company still mails you a statement of renewal every year to update you with your current coverage limits and deductible.

Here's a few important steps you can take to be sure that HOME SWEET HOME is properly protected.

1. Check the basics. Check your name, address and any other description of the insured property. Make sure there's been no change of vesting or ownership that needs to be updated. Check your address to be sure no numbers are transposed.

2. Check the mortgagee clause. Here's where you can be sure that the current mortagee on your home is listed correctly. Check the lender, address and your loan number. Be sure there's no old information there. Maybe you had a HELOC (Home Equity Line of Credit) or a second mortgage that no longer applies. Be sure to get them removed.

HEADS UP: Whenever you have a significant claim, the mortgage company will be one of the payees on your claim settlement check. Just that alone can be an inconvenience. But it becomes a major hassle when one of the institutions listed no longer has a vested interest in your home. The insurance company is bound by contract to include the mortgage company on all settlement checks beyond a stated threshold.

*3. Check the coverage on your home (dwelling or building). This is without question the single most important coverage to examine, consider and adjust whenever necessary. Having been an agent during the two raging firestorms in San Diego, CA in this decade, I can tell you that underinsured homes are just NO FUN! Two of my clients lost their homes in the 2003 fires and fortunately they were both adequately insured. (we call all our homeowner clients once a year to review their coverages and suggest improvements and adjustments) But I can tell you that there were literally hundreds of people in the area that were not so fortunate. Many were underinsured by over $100,000! Contractors were giving rebuilding bids on homes for $400,000 with insurance policies with limits less than $300,000. See if that doesn't tweak your financial well-being just a little. Here's the solution.

Get an accurate rendering of the square footage of your home. Check county records, take a look at, call your favorite Realtor, or get a tape measure and do your thing. Usually you don't include the garage in this calculation. Once you get your square footage, then you need to determine the building cost per square foot in your area for a home like yours. Call a local contractor for a quick estimate or you can call your insurance agent. Average costs in San Diego run about $200 per square foot. With that, a 2000 square foot would take about $400,000 to rebuild. Custom homes can be significantlly more. For a more complete discussion of this, check out: How Much Homeowners Insurance Do You REALLY Need?

Your contents coverage is usually 75% of the amount you have on your home. For example, if you have $400,000 on your home, you'll have an additional $300,000 to cover your personal property (furniture, clothing, dishes, TV, collections, shoes, tools, etc) Usually this is enough, but think through it anyway. If you have antiques, art, collections of any kind then you may need more. Ask your agent for help if you need to.

4. Look at your Personal Liability Coverage. This is the coverage you need when you get sued. Little Johnny runs across your front yard and trips on one of your sprinklers and ruins his chances to become America's Next Top Model and his parents sue your for $250,000. Make sure you don't scrimp here. It's not too expensive to get $500,000 or even $1 Million of liability coverage. If you have $100,000 or less, you could be setting yourself up for a mess just waiting to happen. Put a really big checkbook between your assets and someone who sees an injury as a lifetime paycheck. You might even consider a Liability Umbrella.

5. Check your 'special limits'. This is a REALLY BROAD subject that I just can't do justice to here in this post. Simply stated, there's limits on many things such as cash, computers, cameras, jewelry, furs, goldware, silverware, tools, etc. Call your company and ask for a review. You can increase many of these limits for just a few dollars a year. Sometimes the available increase isn't enough. That's the perfect time to consider a Personal Articles Floater (or it's called many different names) It's a policy that's designed to place stated amounts of coverage on many items from jewelry, business tools, iPods, hearing aids, cameras, musical instruments and on and on. If you have more than 'the average Joe' of ANYTHING, then check this out FOR SURE!

6. Check your deductible! This can be a tremendous cost-control tool in your insurance spending. Simply stated: The larger your deductible, the greater your savings. Usually you can save close to $100 per year just by going from a $500 deductible to $1000. Pick the largest number you can stand without losing sleep at night and ask your agent or company the savings you'd realize by changing. If you have a $250 or smaller deductible, it's definitely time to change it UP! Keep in mind that you usually hit a point of 'diminishing returns' once you get to $4000 or more. This means that you'll save less and less for each additional $1000 you choose. It might make sense to go from $1000 to $2000 if you save $85 a year by doing so, but not from $5000 to $6000 if you only save another $21 by making that jump.

Monitoring your insurance costs and coverages can result in a lot of savings AND peace of mind. Be sure you keep notes and file your thoughts and changes from year to year. These recoreds will make your annual call quicker and easier each year.

Feel free to contact me anytime if you have questions.

Till next time...

It's a Good Life !

Super Bowl XLIV (44) Prop Bet Results

The Super Bowl isn't nearly over, but already we have the results for the Super Bowl coin toss and Super Bowl National Anthem.

In the National Anthem, Carrie Underwood went OVER the 1 minute, 42 second mark, despite recent history suggesting she might go under.

In the Coin Toss, the Saints won the toss with a heads call, leaving the all-time Super Bowl coin toss tally at 22-22, heads tied with tails. The Saints became the 13th consecutive NFC team to win the Super Bowl coin flip.

What a start to the 2010 Super Bowl XLIV (44)!

UPDATE: After the game, Sean Payton received an orange Gatorade Shower, a complete wild card in the betting.

Last Minute Super Bowl XLIV (44) Prop Bets

Super Bowl XLIV is just about to get underway... and you haven't placed any prop bets yet? Fear not, we have all the prop bets you need to worry about.

See our full list of Super Bowl XLIV prop bet coverage here.

Good luck and enjoy the Super Bowl!

Super Bowl XLIV (44) Prop Bet: Historical Colts

We're hours away from the Super Bowl, and all of our Super Bowl coverage can be found on the right or by clicking here.

But we aren't done yet.

Although the following bets will require you to lay some chalk, we like three of these Colts historical bets (as compared to their last Super Bowl appearance in Super Bowl XLI) to exceed their last Super Bowl (Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne and Dallas Clark) and one not to (Joseph Addai).

Super Bowl XLIV – HISTORICAL MATCHUP - Total Passing Yards,
which will be higher?
Player must start game for wagers to have action.
Peyton Manning Super Bowl XLIV
Peyton Manning Super Bowl XLI (247 Passing Yards)
Super Bowl XLIV – HISTORICAL MATCHUP - Total Rushing Yards,
which will be higher?
Player must play in game for wagers to have action.
Joseph Addai Super Bowl XLIV
Joseph Addai Super Bowl XLI (77 Rushing Yards)
Super Bowl XLIV – HISTORICAL MATCHUP - Total Receiving Yards,
which will be higher?
Player must play in game for wagers to have action.
Reggie Wayne Super Bowl XLIV
Reggie Wayne Super Bowl XLI (61 Receiving Yards)
Super Bowl XLIV – HISTORICAL MATCHUP - Total Receiving Yards,
which will be higher?
Player must play in game for wagers to have action.
Dallas Clark Super Bowl XLIV
Dallas Clark Super Bowl XLI (36 Receiving Yards)

Our feeling in regards to taking bets with a lot of juice is that if you find multiple bets that look good, it will be worth your while in the end. So, at least as far as individual numbers are concerned, this Super Bowl against the Saints will be better for the Colts bettors.

Super Bowl XLIV (44) Prop Bet: Hurricane Katrina

Super Bowl XLIV - How Many Times will CBS announcers
fully mention Hurricane Katrina during the game?
Wager is on the number of times announcers specifically say - Hurricane Katrina - during the Game (from kick off until final whistle). Max $50 no exceptions.
Over 2 1/2 (-300)
Under (+240)

Leading up to the Super Bowl, we'll be taking a look at various proposition bets for the 2010 Super Bowl, Super Bowl 44, Super Bowl XLIV, The Big Game, or whatever it's called these days.

Hurricane Katrina was a tragic event that has re-shaped New Orleans, and now it could re-shape the way some Super Bowl prop bettors distribute their money. Those who read this will prevent it from being tragic yet again.

The over/under for full mentions of Hurricane Katrina during the Super Bowl is set at 2 1/2. With the Saints reaching the pinnacle of their sport, it's easy to see why the storm would get more mentions than that. However, the sticking point for us is that they have to be full mentions - Hurricane Katrina rather than just the shortened Katrina.

With all the mentions that the Hurricane has received during the last few years, and even the last two weeks, it's widely accepted to just refer to it as Katrina.

And that technicality is the reason we are going with UNDER 2 1/2 mentions of Hurricane Katrina. And at +240, this is one of the best bets on the board.

Super Bowl XLIV (44) Prop Bet: Archie Manning

Super Bowl XLIV - How Many Times will CBS show Archie Manning
on TV during the Game?
Wager is on the number of times Archie Manning will appear on TV during the Game (from kick off until final whistle). Live pictures only, Any Taped Pictures
or Past Video does not count towards wager. Max $50 no exceptions.
Over 4 1/2

Leading up to the Super Bowl, we'll be taking a look at various proposition bets for the 2010 Super Bowl, Super Bowl 44, Super Bowl XLIV, The Big Game, or whatever it's called these days.

Not since manipulating the draft in Eli Manning's favor has Archie Manning had such an impact on a sporting event. Tonight, the prop bet "How many times will Archie Manning be shown on TV" is one of the hottest bets out there.

The over/under is set at 4 1/2, which seems high by first glance. However, considering that Archie Manning played for the Saints in addition to being Peyton Manning's father, he is the biggest non-game story of the Super Bowl, as he can be shown in reference to either team. If the Saints win, we think they'll show some shots of Archie. If the Colts win, we think they'll show some shots of Archie. So either way, he will get plenty of face time.

That's why we are going with over 4 1/2 shots of Archie Manning during the game.

Super Bowl XLIV (44) Prop Bet Trio

You can see all of our Super Bowl prop bets to the right, but we thought we'd highlight the big three for those of you searching for them all in one place.

Before the game there's the National Anthem.

Then the Coin Toss.

And after the game, the Gatorade Shower.

Happy 2010 Super Bowl XLIV Prop Betting to all and enjoy the Colts and Saints matchup!

2010 Super Bowl XLIV (44) Pick: Colts Over Saints

We've been all over the Super Bowl prop bets, and now it's time to actually pick the winner of the 2010 Super Bowl XLIV (44). So, our Free NFL Picks are as follows:

Indianapolis Colts -6 over the New Orleans Saints

Colts/Saints UNDER 57

We mentioned earlier, the Colts are simply the better and more confident team. But our reasoning for taking the Under with two high scoring offenses is simply we think the over/under is set higher than it should be. For a big game with a lot more of the general public betting on it, the high flying offenses have been hyped past the point of reason. While the offenses are explosive, the defenses aren't entirely horrible--or they wouldn't be playing in the big game.

Don't think we have it right? Check out the Super Bowl Picks at Doc's Sports, along with info on the Super Bowl Point Spread.

Good luck and enjoy the Super Bowl!

Super Bowl XLIV (44) Prop Bet: The Gatorade Shower

Super Bowl XLIV - What Color will the Gatorade be that is dumped on the Head Coach of the Winning Super Bowl Team?
Lime Green

To see the 2011 Super Bowl XLV (45) Gatorade Shower Prop Bet in the game between the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers, click here.

Leading up to the Super Bowl, we'll be taking a look at various proposition bets for the 2010 Super Bowl, Super Bowl 44, Super Bowl XLIV, The Big Game, or whatever you want to call it. You can check out previous prop bet analysis on the upper right sidebar.

We've talked about the coin toss and the National Anthem, two prop bets that take place before all the action. Now it's time to talk about something that takes place after all, or at least most, of the action--the Gatorade shower!

Bodog has plenty of choices for you in the prop bet: What Color will the Gatorade be that is dumped on the Head Coach of the Winning Super Bowl Team?

There's lime green, yellow, orange, red, blue, clear/water, and whatever else they add or delete from this list after reading our analysis.

We might not be able to tell you exactly which color Gatorade will be dumped on the winning coach, but we can certainly narrow it down.

Go ahead and cross off orange, red, blue, and lime green from that list right away. The only way that any of those colors will make an appearance is if Bodog claims that the yellow Gatorade is really lime green, just to screw with everyone.

That leaves us with yellow (5/6 odds) and clear/water (37/20). Your safe bet here is to go with yellow, though you'll lose some juice (get it?). If you're feeling a little risky, though, clear/water is as safe a risk you can make at 37/20 odds this Super Bowl.

Let's take a look at the recent history of The Gatorade Shower.

Back in Super Bowl XL in 2006, Bill Cowher took a bath in the clear liquid.

In 2007, in a rainy Super Bowl XLI, Colts coach Tony Dungy found himself under a rain cloud shaped like a Gatorade bucket.

In Super Bowl XLII, Giants coach Tom Coughlin received the perfect reward for his team's upset win.

And last year, Mike Tomlin won one for the other thumb... and then got yellow Gatorade all over it.

So, you can go with the recent pick of yellow, or stick with the prior Super Bowl's clear/water.

If Gatorade Showers aren't your cup of... Gatorade. Try the Super Bowl Odds and Super Bowl Betting over at Doc's Sports.

Either way, this is a good prop bet for those looking to whet their appetite for wet coaches.

Stock Lemon's Media Day Recap

As we mentioned earlier this week, we attended our very first media day at the Super Bowl in Miami this year.

As we expected, it was a zoo.

Dwight Freeny's ankle, Hurricane Katrina and the rebuilding of New Orleans, and all of the expected storylines were touched upon. While the spectacle seemed to have somewhat less goofballs this year (maybe moving it indoors scared some off), there were still plenty of people who somehow had less business being at media day than we did.

But our main thought from our first media day experience is this: Those Super Bowl patches look huge on the uniforms. But more importantly: The Colts are going to win the Super Bowl. There is an air of confidence around that team with a focus and energy you can just feel. Nothing against the Saints, but they are in "happy to be here" mode, and while the Cardinals almost won it all last year under those same circumstances, we just don't expect the Saints to outduel the mastermind that is Peyton Manning.

Some more Super Bowl XLIV (44) coverage is ahead as we are just days away from the big game, so stay tuned for more fun prop bets and predictions! If you don't get them from us, be sure to check out Doc's Sports Super Bowl Prop Bets and Super Bowl Odds.

By the way, if you look close enough in that photo above you can almost kind of make out one of our arms. We are famous!
